Inspiring Change Every Day with Grace
Life or Death?

Life would be a lot easier if God just forced us to do the right thing every time. No confusion, no temptation and no regrets. But then, would love be real? Would faith even mean anything?
In Deuteronomy 30:19, God says, “I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” This isn’t just about making good decisions. It’s about the power of free will and the truth that every choice reveals what we really treasure.
God gives us the ability to choose, not because He’s indifferent, but because He’s intentional. Choice is where our hearts are exposed. When everything is laid before us, truth and lies, love and lust, obedience and rebellion, what we reach for says everything about who we are becoming.
God isn’t trying to trap us; He’s trying to train us. Just like a teacher doesn’t solve the exam for you, God gives you a test not to fail you, but to help you find yourself.
We don’t talk enough about how much love it takes to let someone go their way. God doesn’t micromanage your life like a controlling boss. He invites you like a Father, one who knows the road, but still gives you the wheel.
That freedom? It’s proof you matter. You’re not a puppet. You’re a person, with real desires and real decisions. And each decision pushes you closer to life or further from it.
Look around you. Every great person became who they were through key decisions. Ruth chose loyalty. Joseph chose integrity. Jesus chose the cross.
On the flip side, Judas chose betrayal. Esau chose a meal over his birthright. Choices don’t just affect us in the moment, they echo through generations. This is why God pleads, “Choose life… so your children may live too.” Your yes or no today is a seed in your family’s future.
Sometimes, God lets you choose what’s wrong, not because He approves, but because your choice will reveal your hunger. Sometimes it’s not the devil fighting you, it’s God stepping aside to see who you really are when no one is watching. That’s not cruel; that’s clarity. And clarity is a gift; a mirror for your motives.
So maybe the reason things feel silent right now is because you’re in a divine test. Maybe the reason the easier road keeps flashing in front of you is because God wants to see if your values match your prayers.
It’s not that He doesn’t care, it’s that He cares so much, He won’t settle for blind obedience. He wants your whole heart. And your heart is seen clearest in the dark corners of decision.
Every choice is a chance. To choose truth over comfort. To choose purpose over popularity. To choose faith even when fear feels safer. Don’t treat your decisions lightly. What you’re saying yes or no to today is shaping the story you’ll tell tomorrow.
