It is strange how quickly our definition of important changes when our health fails. Then, everything that kept us awake and going for more suddenly becomes negotiable or pushed to the waitlist.

Quite a couple of times, I have heard people say, “Life begins at 40.” I understand they are talking about financial stability, maturity, independence, confidence, or finally being able to enjoy the rewards of years of hard work by 40.

It is possible to spend your whole life becoming rich in things and quietly becoming poor in the ability to enjoy them. When we celebrate people for their successes, we rarely ask what the pursuit cost them along the way.
