Inspiring Change Every Day with Grace
Before the Crown

Every great destiny is built on choices no one sees. Alone in our solitary places, pondering and thinking through a pool of thoughts to find the right choice, inspired by divinity.
Before Joseph ever stepped into Pharaoh’s palace, he had already chosen who he would become. In Potiphar’s house, no one was clapping for him. No one was calling him the saviour of Egypt. He was just a young Hebrew slave, misunderstood and forgotten.
Yet it was in that hidden place that Joseph made the decisions that shaped his future. He chose integrity when betrayal would have been easier. He chose self-control when no one would have known if he gave in. And those choices, silent as they were, carved out the man who could handle the weight of the palace.
Many of us dream about where we want to be but forget to choose who we want to be before we get there. You can’t hope to arrive at destiny unprepared and suddenly become the right person for the moment.
Who you are becoming today will determine how far you can go tomorrow. It’s like planting a seed. The seed doesn’t start looking like the tree overnight. It’s buried in the dirt, pressed by time, watered by decisions no one applauds. But when the season of harvest comes, the choices made in the dark will bear fruit in the open.
Joseph could have chosen bitterness after being sold by his brothers. He could have thrown away his faith when falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife. But instead, he chose to stay true to his values.
He wasn’t waiting for a throne to make him honourable; he decided to be honourable long before he saw the palace doors. That’s the truth many of us avoid; character is not built in the spotlight. It is forged in the shadows of everyday decisions.
Our generation is obsessed with arrival. We love the idea of the palace, the crown, and the recognition. But the palace only exposes what the prison and the pit have already built inside you.
If you don’t choose who you are before success comes, success will destroy you. There are people who reached their dreams but lost themselves because they never made internal choices about their identity.
Fame without character is like fire in dry grass, it burns everything too quickly. Honestly, if the door of your destiny opened today, would you be ready to walk through it? Not just with your talent, but with your integrity, your discipline, and your sense of who you are?
Because your identity is the foundation that holds up your destiny. Without it, every achievement becomes fragile. Joseph’s story teaches us that the palace is not the goal, the person you become before the palace is.
You don’t have to wait until life is perfect to start making these choices. Start now. Decide who you want to be when no one is watching. Choose honesty when no one can catch you lying.
Choose excellence even when the work feels small and unnoticed. Choose to be kind, focused, and consistent. Every small decision shapes your future. Who you are becoming is always more important than where you’re going.
If you ever feel like life is slow or unfair, remember Joseph spent years in places he didn’t want to be. But every season was preparing him. Every wrong accusation was shaping him. And every choice he made in private became the strength of the man Egypt could trust in public. Your destiny is waiting, but it can’t meet you halfway if you don’t choose who you are becoming today.
