Flesh on Flesh

We live in a world that focuses on physical appearance, needs, and approval. Every ad and trend tells us to prioritize ourselves. Indirectly, we are pushed to focus on our looks more than our soul, seek admiration over approval, and create impressions instead of building integrity. No wonder the demand for cosmetic surgery is on the rise.

In Luke 2:52, we see a balanced life in Jesus: “He grew in wisdom, stature, and in favour with God and man.” He developed all parts of Himself equally. This is true growth and divine order.

When we focus only on the physical, we become strong on the outside but weak inside. We are celebrated but feel empty, visible but lost. Many pray for opportunities while neglecting their inner lives.

We exercise our bodies but not our spiritual growth. We decorate our appearance but neglect our inner self. Jesus lived differently. His balance was His strength. He knew that divine favor comes from divine order.

Our generation calls it self-love, but it can be self-idolatry. We are too busy with selfies to see our spiritual selves clearly. We feed our desires instead of our discipline. We seek comfort over character. The flesh can never provide lasting fulfillment. When we live to please our flesh, it keeps demanding more. That’s the trap.

How often have we chased what seemed good, only to find that it drained what was truly good in us? Success that destroyed peace, pleasure that took away purity, popularity that silenced purpose.

Many have everything but feel nothing. Yes, God wants us to progress, but not at the cost of balance. Jesus grew in stature; He didn’t neglect His appearance or productivity. He also grew in wisdom and favor with God. He had direction, discernment, and divine alignment. He didn’t let one area dominate the other. True maturity is when our spiritual, mental, and physical growth are in harmony, not conflict.

To experience lasting favour with God and man, we must return to this balance. Nurture your spirit as you do your image. Feed your mind as you feed your body. Pray as passionately as you post. Read as consistently as you rest. If the flesh becomes the master, the spirit becomes the slave, and we lose our true identity.

Today, I’d like to admonish you to prioritize bringing balance back into your life. Don’t let the flesh rule where the Spirit should. When God is at the center, everything else falls into place, including your desires, dreams, and growth. Growth that honors God will always last longer than growth that flatters man
